Of very creamy softpaste, hand-pressed as indicated by varying thicknesses, the dishes each depict two Chinese boys at play with kite in a Chinese garden, in rich blue/black designs on cream background. Included are three platters of graduated size (1 with hairline), 2 handled serving plates, 2 handled bowls, 9 dinner plates, 6 smaller plates (chip on one), 4 various bowls, and two covered tureens (small flake on inner rim of larger). Condition: generally excellent, a few pieces darkened, see notes above. Marks: (Chinese stamped insignia). Comments: mid-19th century a rare signed export set with delightful design. Also included is a wooden cutlery tray containing a number of pewter and bone-handled cutlery of which a fine carving knife marked "made in Germany", and another larger knife inscribed "P.H. & G."
