Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing on a (worn) velvet covered platform is a bisque-head doll with brown paperweight eyes, closed mouth, blonde curly mohair wig, bisque hands, holding a wooden mandolin. When wound, and lever released, the Troubadour plays musical tunes, strums the mandolin and turns his head proudly from side to side and nods. Condition: generally excellent, some costume wear. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 3. Comments: Roullet & Decamps, circa 1890, the doll wears a superb original velvet and silk costume with metallic edging, matching cap.
