Description

23à (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with deeply sculpted characterized features of wistful older child, having blue painted eyes glancing to the right in deeply defined eye sockets, fringed upper lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, luminous glaze on bottom lip, original brunette mohair wig, original composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique cotton dress, pinafore, undergarments, shoes and stockings. Condition: generally excellent, some typical wig pulls at back of head under wig, three fingers broken. Marks: K*R 103 58. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, from their art reform character series, few examples of this model are known to exist. The doll exhibits an extraordinary quality of sculpting including definition of cheek bones, philtrum, square-tipped nose with rounded edging, and defined temples; the bisque is exemplary. The doll has been a prominent feature in the Legoland Museum for many decades.
