Description

9.5" (24 cm.) A wooden framed bookcase with gold-tooled leather finish has a beveled glass door that hinges open to a faux-book lined interior. The shelves of books are simply a facade, two forming the front of a drawer, and the top disguising the musical mechanism (1" cylinder, 18 teeth) which is hidden behind, and which plays when the key is wound at the backside and the cabinet door opened. Condition: generally excellent, music functions albeit a bit slowly. Marks: Reuge St. Croix Switzerland (music box). Comments: circa 1890, a luxury "surprise" music box.
