20" (51 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of adult lady with very ornate coiffure having wide pouf curls at the sides and at the crown decorated by a hair comb, painted facial features, rarer brown eyes, early muslin body with only lower red kid arms that are simply sewn to the sleeves of the gown. Condition: very good, original finish very well preserved with one nearly invisible touch-up at back of head. Comments: Germany, circa 1830, the doll wears her original (albeit frail and mended) ivory silk satin wedding gown. From the original collection Estrid Faurholt, later acquired by Legoland Museum, the doll was shown in Faurholt's Book of Dolls and Dollhouses with the comment that the following note was pinned to the dress of the doll, "said to be portrait doll of Queen Victoria's mother, the Duchess of Kent".
