Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing on a (worn) velvet covered wooden box is a bisque-head doll with blue paperweight eyes, closed mouth, blonde mohair fleecy wig, bisque forearms, holding a wooden mandolin in her arms. When wound and lever released, music plays and she strums the mandolin, turning her head from side to side and then nodding. Condition: generally excellent, costume is all original but silk is quite worn. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 3. Comments: Roullet & Decamps, circa 1890, a beautiful companion lady to #423 with superb original costume indicating original luxury commission. The pair were featured in Estrid Faurholt's Book of Dolls and Dollhouses, from her collection, and later acquired by the Legoland Museum.
