Description
11" (28 cm.) Pressed tin toy with hand-painted details, richly embossed details of cat's body including fur, ears and tail, with original brown/yellow shaded finish portrays a cat in pouncing position watching a mouse that has been captured in a trip. The cat rests upon a wheeled base with painted green/cream spoked wheels, matching the cage. When wound, the toy propels forward and about, while the mouse simultaneously races around the cage as though trying to escape. Condition: original painted finish albeit quite worn, mechanism functions well. Germany, circa 1890.
