Description
19" (48 cm.) Each is of fine porcelain with black sculpted drawn away from face into ornate coiffure, painted facial features, homespun body, wooden lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1860, the dolls were featured in Faurholt's Book of Dolls and Dollhouses with the note, "Twins except for their china head, these well-bred young ladies from Zealand belonged to two sisters born in 1844 and 1847". Each is wearing its matching original wool plaid hand-stitched gown with exquisitely detailed handmade undergarments.
