12" (30 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with black sculpted hair arranged with one long looped curl behind each sculpted ear and then drawn into tightly braided chignon at back of head, the hair topped by a curved-top tiara painted mauve at the back and gilded at the front, sculpted drop earrings, painted facial features, bisque lower arms and legs, painted boots, nicely costume in early cotton gown, undergarments. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 0. Comments: Germany, circa 1865, from the original collection of Estrid Faurholt who noted "we know that this grand dame has never washed a doll dish in her life" in her Book of Dolls and Dollhouses.
