Each is of wood with bent wire balance beams, comprising a man with sculpted wooden top hat and jointed limbs on ball-weighted balance bar, and another wooden doll standing upon a diamond-pointed wooden base; the base balances upon a wooden pole with counterweight wooden balls at either end of the curved balance beam. Mid-19th century. Rare and delightful toys.
