Two Japanese Paper Mache Child Dolls

Each has painted white complexion, gofum (seashell) over paper mache head and body, painted facial features, the standing doll with fabric covered wire upper arms for articulation, black human hair. Condition: generally excellent, some finish craquelure. Comments: Japanese play dolls, late 19th century, with wonderful character faces, original costumes and accessories.
