Description

33"h x 19"w x 12"d. A narrow-shaped tall wooden house with painted faux-brick finish features 7 front windows of three varying sizes, each with well-detailed wooden panes and wide sills designed for holding window pots. The solid panel front door is surmounted by a non-opening transom window. The sides and back of the house are solid. The front hinges open to reveal three large rooms, one on each floor, connected by stairs in the narrow hallway with opening doors into the rooms. The paper in the house is old, but may not be original; the floors are plain wood. There is a hat rack and umbrella stand in the front hall, and other furnishings include Maerklin fireplace, maple desk, 5 upholstered seating pieces, chest, and a 5-piece maple bedroom set including a marble top washstand. Accessories include 3 ormolu framed pictures, 2 oil lamps, birdcage, 2 "portraits", clock, wash bowl, and a cradle; there are three bisque dollhouse dolls and an all-bisque child. A hand-lettered sign on the glass transom window reads "Emscott, 90, Anerley [sic] Park, S.E." Late 19th century.
