18" (46 cm.) Earthenware head with flanged neck, sculpted brown hair with well modeled hair in casual bangs and short curls, narrow blue glass sleep eyes, smoky eye shadow, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils of broad nose, closed mouth modeled as though open with beaming smile and row of sculpted teeth, tongue tip, muslin body, composition limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Gladdie copyright by Helen H. Jensen Germany. Comments: designed by American artist Helen Jensen, circa 1925, the doll was produced in both bisque and earthenware in German factories. Value Points: exceptionally fine quality of original painting with luminous decorative glaze to enhance the characterization, original body, delightful original costume.
