Description

16à (41 cm.) A thick wooden-framed room with angled sides and a roof has two large side windows with painted panes and a built-in faux-marble fireplace with wall-paper covered chimney and fancy mantel. The walls have old embossed fleur-de-lis wallpaper, and a gilded fancy four-arm chandelier hangs from the ceiling that is painted with a fancy stenciled design. There are carved window valances and lace curtains. Furnishings include 2 early painted carved wood-painted chairs with maple legs and decoupage, early painted tin table with 2 side chairs and a rocker with silk pillow, other chairs, painted metal stove, Biedermeier style furnishings including secretaire with drop front and fancy interior and an upright piano that plays music when manivelle handle at the back is turned (the piano is stamped F. Thomsens, leger af Harmonikaer, Stue-Orgeier...K Jobenhavnà.) Accessories include wedding photograph in silver frame, carved bone inkwell set, mini book "Poems Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect', hanging gilded and wooden mirrors, die-cast figural of man on a donkey, metal figural clock of man walking in the forest that fits into its original porcelain base,3 lithographed framed scenes, tiny sewing box of punched paper, and wood and bone foot stool with velvet cushion, and a cross-stitch rug. A black-haired china doll lives in the room. An accompanying label reads "Charlotte's Lyst". Circa 1880.
