29" (74 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with strong elongated throat, black painted hair close to head with looped wave in front of sculpted ears, black enamel inset eyes, painted facial features, closed mouth, old muslin stitch-jointed body, leather arms. Condition: very good, original finish with some fading of features, some craquelure at back of hair. Comments: Germany, circa 1840, an early model with strong and appealing personality, the doll wears wonderful original costume of wools and cotton, great shoes with thick leather soles.
