Description
21" (53 cm.) Within a glass dome with ebony wooden base, is arranged a green velvet basket- shaped form whose handle is interwoven with a garland of porcelain flowers such as rose petals, and morning glories, along with silk leaves. A rose-silk tufted cushion is laid in the basket center and upon it is resting a bride's coronet and gown accessories composed on tiny orange blossoms in a sunray effect. The arrangement is further decorated with various family mementoes and symbols. The globe de mariee was presented to the bride-to-be by her family, its various objects symbolizing hopes for the new married couple, and designed to preserve her wedding coronet. Excellent condition. France, circa 1920.
