Description
15" (38 cm.) 10"-15". Four figures representing villagers are of carved wood or earthenware with richly sculpted characterization, painted complexions, hair and facial features (the smallest man with enamel eyes),hemp-wrapped armature bodices, sculpted hands and feet with painted shoes and stockings (the largest with cloth arms, probably replaced). Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neopolitan, early 19th century. Value Points: superb artistry of carving and painting, the figures wear their well-detailed original silk costumes with braid and embroidered detail.
