Description

14" (36 cm.) A pair of matched all-bisque figurals depict a young Victorian boy and girl, each seated on a bisque bench with a bowl of soap bubbles, their head and hands poised as though blowing bubbles. Each has well-detailed sculpted hair in tousled fashion, sculpted and painted facial features with downcast intaglio eyes as though watching the bubbles, original O-shaped hole in pursed lips, very elaborate sculpted costumes with painted and gilded decorations. Included are original bisque bubble pipes. Condition: generally excellent, boy has tiniest paint flake on left boot. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1900. Value Points: exceptional and very rare pair with superb sculpting and painting, realistic depiction of childhood play.
