30" (76 cm.) (30" to top of hat). Paper mache figure of Polichinelle with highly characterized features, prominent nose, painted brown eyes, black feathered brows, closed mouth in wide devilish smile with double row of painted teeth, white mohair wig, wooden block torso with exaggerated front and back humps, straw-filled upper arms and legs, wooden hand and feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1885. Value Points: superb original condition of the grand- sized popular French theatre figure, wearing his original gold and red silk costume with lace and gold braid trim, bells, black upturned shoes, matching cap.
