Description
12" (30 cm.) Paper mache bear with golden mohair "fur" has elaborate leather harness and muzzle with silver trim, glass eyes, spoked wheels on feet, and is supporting a little bisque-head boy and girl, each glass eyes, open mouth, mohair wig, carton torso, wire upper arms and legs, carved wooden hands and feet, and wearing their factory original costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Germany 8/0 (dolls). Comments: for the French market, circa 1890, a leather pull handle allows the bear to be pulled along and a chain from the boy's left hand causes the whip to move up and down when pulled. Value Points: an amusing and well-preserved toy.
