Carved wooden socket head with solid dome, bald pate with painted black forelock and side curls, sculpted definition of features and ears, painted brown eyes with white eye dots, black and red upper eyeliner, one stroke brows with feathered tips, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, antique silk costume comprising pants, long shirt, black silk vest with embroidered medallion, slippers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early 20th century, maker unknown, but stylistic techniques suggest German or Swiss made. Value Points: rare wooden doll with beautifully carved and painted features, fully-articulated body, original painting.
