23" (58 cm.) Plastic wood shoulder head modeled nearly to the waist with defined bosom, painted blue eyes in well-defined sockets, feathered brows and lashes, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with smiling expression, row of teeth, blonde human hair, muslin lower torso and upper legs, plastic wood arms and lower legs in long slender shape. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: earliest model of portrait doll by the esteemed American artist, circa 1935, after which her entire dolls were made of plastic wood. The doll is likely a portrait of Jeannie Thibodeau, Cochran's neighbor who was also the model for Angel. Value Points: very rare early doll with vibrant expression, has original slip and pantaloons, and owns an added blue chambray dress, various nightgowns and slips.
