Description
20" (51 cm). Wooden secretary with arched double door cabinet above opening to shelved interior, slant front writing desk with elaborately fitted interior of niches, tiny drawers and leather-top writing surface, and two small and three large lower drawers. The secretaire is finished in black Chinoiserie style with rich gilded and red designs of Chinese scenes and symbols, and the interior is painted Chinese red with gold decorations. In the 18th century style, the desk was made as a maitrise model or salesman's sample in France, second half 20th century. Excellent condition and superb workmanship.
