Neapolitan Lady with Unusual Coiffure

12" (30 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead, brown sculpted hair softly waved from face and captured with a red ribbon which forms streamers onto the back nape, the hair in loosely woven braid which coils over the back of head and with tumbling curls onto shoulders, enamel eyes, aquiline nose, closed mouth with two rows of tiny teeth, modeled bosom, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and black shoes with red bows, original folklore costume. Good condition, paint on hair is worn, one finger broken, costume dusty. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
