Description
15 1/2" (40 cm). Bisque swivel head with rich brown complexion enhanced by luminous patina, on matching shoulder plate, brown glass inset eyes, painted lashes and black brows, upturned nose, accent dots at nostrils, slightly open mouth with richly painted lips, two rows of porcelain teeth, black mohair fleecy wig, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: swivel head version of the same facial model as #153, attributed to Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1877, discussed in The Bru Book, pp 47-49. Value Points: very rich and pleasing complexion enhances the highly characterized expression of the rare doll, elaborate costume and jewelry.
