13" (33 cm). Bisque socket head with very slender facial shape portraying an adult man, flat cut pate, painted brown hair at sides and back of head, painted facial features, blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils of strong nose, closed mouth with pursed lips, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Montreuil France D.L. Comments: Damerval and Laffranchy, who purchased the doll firm of Falck- Roussel in 1909, and made dolls only until 1916; their most notable works were a series of male portrait dolls representing styles of the early 20th century. Value Points: rare doll with distinctive portraiture, wearing excellent antique costume.
