enhanced by lustrous patina, large amber brown
glass
paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, black
painted lashes,
black feathered brows, accented eye corners,
shaded nostrils,
closed mouth with defined space between the
richly shaded and
outlined lips, pierced ears, black mohair wig over
cork pate,
French composition and wooden fully-jointed lady
body with
shapely torso. Condition: generally excellent.

represents a Spanish matador, with
complementary rich sienna
complexion, circa 1888. Value Points: superb doll
with rich
glowing complexion, original wig, pate, body, and
elaborate
costume that perfectly fits the body in the matador
style; the
costume created in the couturier workshops of
Jumeau and
featuring rich metallic braid and gold stars and
balls on red silk
jacket, pants and long cape, along with black
velvet fitted cap
trimmed with soutache braid. No other example of
this doll is
known to exist, the complexion, body and
costume perfectly
matched.
