Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled detail of bosom and shoulder blades, very full plump cheeks and lower face, brown glass enamel inset eyes, thick black eyeliner, painted lashes, incised eyeliner, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, upturned nose tip, shaded nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though slightly open with shaded and outlined lips, row of painted teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid very plump bebe body with curved arms, bisque forearms with separately sculpted fingers, gusset-jointing of hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bte SGDG (front forehead) Depose (front shoulderplate) 9 (side shoulder plate, raised number) (Circle/dot symbol back of head). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880, the model was deposed in that year. Value Points: dramatic larger size allowing full expression of the superbly sculpted details including rare painted teeth, superb hands with defined knuckles and nails, superb painting of complexion, wearing couturier quality antique costume gown with soutache trim and cutwork, pique cap with blue velvet ribbons, undergarments, leather shoes.
