18" (46 cm). Composition socket head with sculpted facial features depicting a wistful faced boy, painted small blue eyes in defined eye sockets, lightly tinted brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, upturned nose tip, closed mouth with very full outlined lips, full cheeks, blonde mohair wig composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1910, from the series of art character reform dolls presented by Marion Kaulitz at German doll expositions in 1909 and 1910,and considered by many as the inspiration for the character doll movement that was popular from 1909 until the years of WWI. Value Points: rarely found doll is perfectly preserved with artfully painted complexion and features, captivating sculpture.
