Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, alternate faces appear on either side of the head and are revealed by pivot of head and flipping of wig over the face to be hidden; one face reveals a gentle bebe with delicate complexion, painted blue eyes with rich decorative glaze, black painted lashes and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the lips and a row of painted teeth; the other face reveals a crying bebe with rosy complexion, painted narrowed eyes with decorative glaze, painted lashes, furrowed brows with curvy lashes, accented eye corners and nostrils of rounded nose, "O" shaped closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, row of painted teeth; with blonde mohair fleecy wig, kid bebe body according to Bru depose pattern, bisque forearms and hands with separately sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (original Bru paper label on body). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880, the model was never deposed although its head revolving system was based upon his early depose for double-faced poupee; the model seems to have been made for a few years only. Value Points: the largest size known of Bru's rare double-faced bebe has exceptional detail of sculpting and painting including row of teeth on each face and glazed highlights on eyes, very sturdy body with perfect hands, beautiful antique silk costume, bonnet, undergarments and leather shoes marked Bru Jne.
