Bisque socket head with highly characterized features depicting a child with delightful broad smile, narrow blue glass inset eyes as though squinting in laughter, sculpted details around the eyes, painted curly lashes, incised eyeliner, brushstroked and feathered arched brows, nicely shaped nose with shaded nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though open with accented lips, painted and sculpted upper and lower teeth, defined tongue, impressed laughter creases at sides of mouth, separately sculpted pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Comments: Emile Jumeau, from his "series fantastique" created in the early 1890's as part of a very luxury line produced only on special commission or for exhibition purposes; the cost of the 200 series characters was nine times that of a classic bebe.
