Bisque socket head with slender facial modeling of older child, brown glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, short brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with solemn expression, accented lips, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing fine antique burgundy twill boy's suit with lace collar, belt, argyle stockings, black woolen tam. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 213 3 B&D Ltd. Germany. Comments: Bawo and Dotter, circa 1910, the New York importer commissioned the rare doll from a German porcelain firm, possibly Bahr and Proschild. Value Points: an outstanding model with clarity of expression, finest quality of bisque and great rarity; few other models are known.
