23" (59 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass enamel inset eyes, fringed brows and lashes, aquiline nose, closed mouth with accented lips, strong cheek and jaw lines, white fleecy wig, Polichinelle style body with front and back torso humps, straw-filled sewn-on silk Polichinelle costume in ivory and brown silk, wooden hands, paper mache feet with painted stockings and upturned shoes. Condition: extended old hairline at side of face. Marks: Huret. Comments: circa 1905, during the glorious art renaissance rebirth of the Huret doll under the directorship of Eliza Prevost; Polichinelle had remained a popular cotillion figure and was a natural to be presented with the newly styled Huret head although few examples actually ever appeared. Value Points: rare Polichinelle model with signed head, superb costume with hanging loop at peak of cap and gold stringing threads.
