Description
13" (33 cm). Bisque socket head, brown glass enamel inset eyes, painted features, open mouth with slightly parted lips, four porcelain teeth, five piece paper mache body. The doll is marked 6/0. She is wearing a colorful and vibrant antique costume of various rich fabrics including woolen, lace, velvet and brocades, with original undercap and coiffe, and antique gilt cross. An original paper label attached to the doll reads "Mariee Brayaude,St. Bonnet Riom, Costume Ancien" suggesting this to be the traditional bride's costume of the region. French, circa 1890.
