Description

24" (61 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, richly shaded lips, four porcelain teeth, blonde mohair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. The doll wears his formal regimental uniform of the French military including red cashmere woolen jacket with metallic braid trim and braids, white woolen pants, high black boots, and black tricorn with generous white feathers. The jacket is decorated with a large number of medals and symbolic awards, some original to the manufacturer's costume and others added by the original family owners. The doll is marked "Dep 10". The model appears as a special commission costumed doll in the 1912 catalog of SFBJ, and was quite expensive at the time. Excellent condition.
