21" x 13" (54 x 33 cm). A basket-shaped form is richly draped with green velvet including the curved handle and legs, and is decorated with gilded fancy border. There is a beveled-edge mirror at the back with filigree frame. An ivory velvet tufted cushion is set into the basket and resting on it is a lavish bridal coronet designed to be worn atop the head. The basket is also decorated with the bridal veil of fine lace, the bridal bouquet, three ivory satin bows, and an exquisite garland of tiny white rose buds made of hand-pressed and formed bisque. Hidden in the base is a two-tune musical box with (illegible) label on the underside, that operates from a pull- string at the side, and plays nicely. The basket is on ebony-finished wooden base with glass dome. French, circa 1900.
