22" x 15" (56 x 38 cm). In the center of an elaborate presentation is a maroon velvet cushion with gilded fretwork frame. A gilded metal framework, hidden by the 22-karat gold-plated symbols that are attached curves over and under the cushion. An exceptional collection of rich symbols includes: 22 fleur-de-lis with beaded centers, 11 daisies, two flower-filled garnitures, two winged doves (one with wreath of harmony),and elaborate scrollwork including a marguerite-centered garland from which hangs a gilded tassel. There are eight very fancy beveled mirrors. Preserved on the cushion is the bride's bouquet with lace trim, three other wax orange blossom sprays for hair decoration, and hanging from the side is her very elegant bouquet of tiny silk flowers. What makes this globe so exceptional is not only the number of its elements, but their outstanding quality with deep modeling and rich gilding. The arrangement is on its original ebony-finished wooden base with blown glass dome. French, circa 1890.
