Description
21" x 14" (54 x 35 cm). A basket-shaped form with rich moss green velvet cover has Art Nouveau style design, curved velvet handle with a garland of white bisque hand-pressed roses and bellflowers, and an oval beveled mirror at the center back. Art Nouveau style silver and gold embellishments are appliqued to the velvet, and in the basket bed is a tufted ivory velvet cushion that displays a very unusual bridal coronet that is 4"high and made of tiniest orange blossom buds on stem-like arrangements. The bridal necklace, to match, cascades around the basket front and several matching gown ornaments are tucked behind the handles. The entire arrangement poses upon an ebony-finished wooden base with glass blown dome. French, circa 1910.
