20" x 14" (51 x 35 cm). An oval-shaped blue velvet-covered plate is bordered by six mirrors (two in rectangular shape, and others in fanciful curves) along with various symbols including winged dove, ten sprigs of three leaves each, one large marguerite, and two fanciful urn-shaped floral garnitures. Mounted upon the velvet plate is an exceptionally bountiful arrangement of wax- orange blossoms interspersed with bellflowers and tiny blossoms and designed for the bride to wear atop her head. The arrangement rests upon an ebony-wooden base with blown glass dome, and included is a small leather bound missal. Many of the symbols have blackened although in a consistent manner suggesting it a deliberate action for some unknown reason; the marguerite, for example, is blackened on alternate petals. French, circa 1890.
