Description
A four-sided burgundy velvet pillow with gilded metallic braid edging and four ball and tassel drops is further embellished by lavish 22-karat gold plated symbols, comprising 20 oak leaves symbolizing long-life for the couple, 9 daisies with added bead elements, three coronets of graduated size balls, four oval mirrors presented by the bridesmaids as good wishes, and 1 unusual maple leaf poised directly above the bride's very beautiful orange blossom and bud coronet that rests upon the velvet pillow. The richness of the design, and the indication of four bridesmaids suggests the history of a prominent family. Presented upon ebony-finished wooden base (one molding piece missing) under four-sided glass dome. French, circa 1890.
