11" (28 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head of slender-faced lad, unusual hair style features bald pate with thick tuft of curls at the forehead and sculpted curls over the ears and around the lower back scalp, enamel eyes with heavy eye lids, closed mouth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted black stockings and thick brown work shoes, wearing original costume and carrying a sculpted Neapolitan owl with enamel inset eyes. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, the gazing expression of lad is drawn to the rare owl he is holding.
