Description

21" x 14" (53 x 36 cm). An elaborately arranged presentation of richly-gilded symbols encircle the red velvet tufted cushion and highlight the miniature pain de mie bride and groom figures that are posed at the center in front of the shield-shaped beveled mirror with ball-shaped frame. The symbols include 18 clusters of three 3-leafed clovers, seven daisies, four large sunflowers with dark garnet glass-gemstone centers, dove with wreath of harmony, two triangular mirrors, and one oval mirror. Additional silk flowers add to the decoration, and resting on the cushion is the bride's delicately woven orange blossom coronet, matching spray, with additional small bouquets at the peak and sides of the frame. The presentation is arranged on an ebony-wooden base and preserved by a blown glass dome. French, circa 1885.
