20" x 13" (51 x 33 cm). An elaborately arranged presentation features richly gold-plated objects surrounding a large mirror with hand-painted flowers, two small oval mirrors, and one small rectangular mirror. The symbolic objects, richly plated, include 16 wheat sheaths, two urn-shaped garnitures flanking the mirror, and two doves with wreath in beak. In the center is an ivory silk- covered tufted cushion with a gilded frame. Other original decorations include hand-pressed and painted bisque roses, rose petals, and a spray of 12 lilies of the valley. Added family objects include the bride's lavish coronet and bouquet of wax orange blossoms that rests upon the cushion, and a large piece of pain de soldat (soldier's bread) brought back to the young couple's home when the husband returned from World War I. The arrangement sits upon its original oval wooden base with blown glass globe. French, circa 1915.
