Description

20" x 13" (51 x 33 cm). A very elaborate presentation features a red velvet tufted cushion surrounded by richly sculpted or filigreed silver symbols, comprising dove with wreath of harmony, five daisies,14 oak leaves symbolizing the longevity of the couple, and an abundance of elaborate scrolls and plates, three centered by an unusual garnet glass prism stone symbolizing constancy and patience. There are also six trapezoid mirrors symbolizing harmony, and six other mirrors. Silk flowers add an additional decoration. Personal mementoes include the bride's coronet of wax orange blossoms, matching spray for her gown, and pair of matching earrings. A child of a young lad, presumably the couple's child, was added at a later date, from a photographer's studio in the village of Bonneval, France. The entire arrangement rests upon a wooden ebony-finished base under a blown glass dome. French, circa 1910.
