
20" x 13" (51 x 33 cm). A rich velvet tufted cushion with gilded filigree frame is posed in the center of a lavish arrangement of mirrors, gilded symbols and bisque flowers. There are five rectangular mirrors representing the years of engagement, one diamond-shaped mirror representing the union, a winged dove with wreath symbolizing harmony,20 gilded maple leaves and 9 gilded daisies. Sprays of small white bisque bellflowers appear on either side of the mirrors. Posed upon the red velvet cushion is an extraordinary bridal crown of waxed orange blossoms and buds designed to sit atop the bride's head. There is also a lovely wax orange blossom necklace, and orange blossom sprays that embellished the bride's gown or wrist that are arranged felicitously throughout. The whole is on an ebony-finished wooden base with blown glass dome. French, circa 1900.
