Description
A cabinet of native walnut veneer with panels of
quarter-figured
pear bears the carved and gilded Kalliope name on
the inside
center lid. The musical movement features an
extremely
decorative bedplate with fleur-de-lis, acanthus
leaves, the
Kalliope name and criss-crossed squares. The comb
has 82
teeth in good condition with some oxidation on
the bass leads.
The ten musical saucer bells can be turned on and
off at will
while the disc is playing, and there is a zither
attachment
mounted to the musical comb. Included are twenty
17 3/4_ tune
discs, stenciled with their song titles, the
Kalliope name and
trademark. The musical box originally sold for
176 Marks plus 2
Marks for each tune disc. Made by Kalliope
