Description
Standing upon a velvet covered base is a bisque
headed girl with
brown glass paperweight eyes, painted features,
closed mouth,
beautiful complexion and bisque, original blonde
mohair wig
over cork pate, carton torso and legs, bisque
forearms, holding
a small bouquet of silk flowers in her left hand
and a mirror in
her right hand. She wears her original rose silk
dress and bonnet
from the couturier workshops of Ernestine Jumeau
with lavish
lace and silk ribbon trim, undergarments, rose
silk shoes with
ribbon bows. The doll is marked Depose Tete
Jumeau Bte SGDG
4, and the key is early Lambert model without
initials.
Movements: she turns her head from side to side,
nods, and
alternately sniffs the bouquet of flowers, or
looks in her mirror.
Music plays. Lambert, circa 1890, the automaton
is perfectly
preserved.
