Description
A heavy gold-plated box with intricate embossed designs on the sides, lattice-embossing on the base, and a rich cobalt blue enamel top with gold edging and an oval gold pop-up lid with scrolled border, contains a richly feathered bird that rests in a bird-shaped bed when not in play. The bird turns side to side, flutters its wings, opens and closes its beak, and performs a marvelous song fest of trills, chirps, tweets, and other sounds. The stop/start lever is bird-shaped. Circa 1930s.
