Description
A tall angular man is portrayed in this chip-carved figure leaning against the lamppost. Hand-painted features enhance the detail of carving including wrinkles at suit button and pants leg. His tall hat is crinkled and he wears a red tie and red polka dot handkerchief that tumbles from his disheveled pocket. The clockwork mechanism causes the man to whistle loudly and smoothly as he turns his head from side to side. As the whistling begins the lamp lights up from batteries hidden in battery case (refitted for AAA batteries). This is from a post-WWII series of Griesbaum figures that saw widespread popularity. Circa 1950.
