Description
Posed upon a paper covered box is a paper mache monkey mother with amber glass eyes and painted facial features, wearing simple cotton dress and apron, and clasping a baby monkey in her left arm. She holds a carved bone spoon in her right arm, and when the simple push lever at the back is depressed, she brings her right arm up and down, but actually feeds herself rather than the baby. Circa 1850.
